Adventurous church planting in the Siberian tundra
JNI 611 - It's certainly not for the faint-hearted: to adopt a vision to reach the 36,000 towns in Siberia that do not have a gospel witness. This is exactly what church-planter Natasha Schedrivaya is pursuing.
She was raised in an atheist's home (her father was a Soviet general), and had been taught in communist schools that the Bible was a collection of myths. But after her conversion in college she became a student of the Bible and hopped on a fast track to leadership. In 1997 she became the first woman in Russia to be elected a bishop by her male peers.
Natasha's incredible story is continued in the full edition of Joel News International. Also in this edition: Why Europe's most successful pastor hands over the baton.
